New and improved methods of engagement will be introduced by Central Goldfields Shire Council over the coming months.
A series of new initiatives will replace Council Meeting Question Time in an effort to make Council deliberations and decisions more accessible to a greater number of residents.
Earlier this year Council adopted the Engaging Central Goldfields – A Community Engagement Framework and as a result the following opportunities will be introduced:
The Central Goldfields Shire also runs a weekly advertisement in The Maryborough Advertiser which includes the mobile numbers and email addresses of our Administrators – these details are also available on Council’s website.
Central Goldfields Shire Council Chief Administrator Noel Harvey said it was essential for Council to look at ways to refresh the way it engages with the community.
“Only a small number of residents utilised the opportunity to ask questions as part of question time and often many of those could have been responded to by a phone call.
“We know most residents feel more comfortable asking a question by phone or in person rather than in a public setting so we’re confident that these new formats will help make Council more accessible to the wider community."
