Residents with smart phones now have the ability to install a free application (app) to their phone called “Neat Streets”, which allows a street or road issue to be reported directly to Council.
The app simply requires a photo to be taken. The report is then referred directly to Council’s works staff for attention. The new system automatically picks up the location and includes that within a message sent, along with a photo, a text message about the issue and the classification of the problem. Where the issue is the responsibility of another authority, such as VicRoads, Council will refer the matter on.
The following classifications are used for reporting.
Central Goldfields Shire Council has taken the use of the app a step further. Once a report is made, progress reports will be provided back to the phone from which the report came. This service is not provided by any other council using the app.
The application is very easy to use and is very convenient, taking much less time than a phone call or writing a letter. Council encourages people to use the application and see how it works for them.
