The upgrade to the walking track bridge at Goldfields Reservoir has been welcomed by residents.
Fully funded by Central Goldfields Shire Council, the $31,000 project was completed in March and involved the replacement of the existing timber bridge at the south end of the embankment.
The project is timely with the Central Goldfields Shire Council adopting its Walking and Cycling Strategy earlier in April. The Strategy provides the framework necessary to ensure that our walking and cycling infrastructure promotes an increase in participation rates.
The new bridge provides a level and safe bridge crossing for visitors to the area.
The project was funded as part of Council’s culvert upgrade budget and was delivered by local contractors Paul Stone Excavations with Astbury Welding and Contracting completing the handrails.
The Goldfields Reservoir walking track is located at the south end of the reservoir embankment just off Ballarat Maryborough Road.
The Goldfields Reservoir will host the 2017 Vision Super Ripples on the Res event this Sunday, 16 July at 9am, in partnership with the Maryborough Triathlon Club.
