Students from Maryborough Education Centre are spending a week at Central Goldfields Shire Council’s Maryborough Regional Library and Goldfields Family Centre as part of their work experience placement.
Year 10 students from MEC, Dylan Brame and Kira Wheater are based at the Library this week - Monday 22 October until Friday 26 October.
Dylan and Kira have been involved with the day-to-day running of our Library by assisting with duties including customer service, shelving, IT, children’s programming and other events.
Meanwhile, at the Goldfields Family Centre, several MEC students have been getting the taste of working life in an early childhood setting.
Year 10 student Heather Book recently completed her work experience at the Centre while fellow student Alicia Martin is based at the Centre this week.
Fellow student Kacey Adamson will also undertake her work experience at the Centre next week.
During their time Heather, Alicia and Kacey will work closely with the children in their day-to-day routines and have had the opportunity to experience all of the Centre’s age groups from the babies’ room to kinder-age children.
Central Goldfields Shire Chief Administrator Noel Harvey said it was great to see local students learning more about some of the many services Council provides.
“We hope the students have enjoyed their time with us and that their work experience has given them a greater insight into what career they would like to pursue once finishing high school.”
