Did you know more than 10,000 number plates are stolen in Victoria every year?
They are often used to commit other serious offence including petrol drive offs, avoiding speeding and parking fines and burglaries and drug trafficking.
To help prevent number plate theft residents are encouraged to screw your number plates on with one-way, anti-theft screws.
To assist Victoria Police, Rotary Maryborough, Bendigo Bank and Central Goldfields Shire L2P Program have joined forces to host a Number Plate Safety Screw Day on Saturday 16 December.
Residents are encouraged to bring their vehicles to the Princes Park Car Park, off Park Road and Wills Street in Maryborough and have their plates screwed on.
Volunteers will be on hand to assist and Rotary Maryborough will host a fundraising BBQ on the day.
The project has been made possible thanks to funding from the Bendigo Bank.
