Central Goldfields Shire together with the SES are advising residents that due to the significant rain that is forecast the Incident Control Centre is ready to be mobilised when required.
There is expected to be flooding of minor creek crossings and drains which may spread to major creek crossings and drains.
There are specific delegations during a weather event. Please refer to the list below so you know who to contact for assistance:
- Protection of Private Property is the responsibility of the SES with assistance from the CFA. Sandbags are available directly from them along with local hardware stores. Sand is being delivered to centres across the shire with the main locations being: Carisbrook CFA, Dunolly SES & Talbot CFA, prepared sandbags will be available from Princes Park, Park Rd, Maryborough if required Friday afternoon or Saturday. Residents are advised they need to contact the SES directly for access to sandbags either in person or via the Storms Hotline 132 500. Call for assistance must be placed through the storms hotline.
- Protection and Signage of Roads, Bridges and Drains is the responsibility of Central Goldfields Shire Council. Water over roads can be reported to the Afterhours emergency number 0419 005 577. Road closures will be listed on the Emergency Vic website however as this can take some time to be updated. Council will also update road closures on Council’s website and Facebook page
- Protection of Main Roads/Highways is the responsibility of VicRoads. This includes Pyrenees Hwy, Wimmera Hwy, Ballarat Maryborough Rd, Maryborough Dunolly Rd, Bendigo Maryborough Rd, Maryborough St Arnaud Rd, Lexton Talbot Rd, McCallums Creek Rd, Dunach Eddington Rd (known locally as Landrigan Rd from Craigie cross roads to Carisbrook), Bucknall St Carisbrook and Carisbrook Eddington Rd. Residents are advised to check on elderly neighbours, watch local news and SES pages, listen to Local ABC Radio for the latest updates and keep mobile phones charged.
