The Goldfields Family Centre three-year-old kinder group, Possums, is set to make a trip to Central Goldfields Shire Pound next Monday 25 June.
The aim of the visit is to teach the children the best ways on how to take good care of the family pet and roles of the pound such as the importance of microchipping, vaccinating and rehousing.
The visit is part of the Goldfields Family Centre’s learning topic Earth Respect. The Family Centre is aiming to embed earth care responsibilities within the everyday life of children.
Central Goldfields Shire Chief Administrator Noel Harvey said it was essential to teach young children about respecting and taking care of animals.
“This visit is a great idea and I commend the Goldfields Family Centre and our Rangers for organising this event,” he said.
“It is so important that we teach our younger community members the role of our local Pound and how to respect and treat not only our beloved family pets but all animals.
“I am sure the Possums kinder group will get so much out of this visit,” Mr Harvey said.
