Central Goldfields Shire is looking for new volunteers to help deliver our Meals on Wheels and Social Support group services.
Do you have one hour or two to spare once a month, once a fortnight, or just now and then? If so, we’d love to hear from you.
Volunteering is a great way to meet new people, get and about and to spend time with community-minded people. You’ll also be helping to deliver a service that means our aged residents can remain living in their own home for as long as possible.
Meals on Wheels
Volunteering for Meals on Wheels enables you to give back to the community without taking up a huge chunk of your time.
Meals are collected from Maryborough District Health Service at 11.15 am and the round is usually completed by 12.45pm. You can choose to get involved with a friend or take some time out by yourself.
Planned Activity Group/Social Support
Volunteers assist in the operation of the Planned Activity Group/Social Support program which includes assisting staff with activities, outings etc.
Five outings are hosted each week with around 12 to 14 clients participating in each outing.
We require three volunteers for each outing, including one driver.
The outings start with a client pick up, then travel to the designated outing, have the meal and the extra outing that may be planned and then travel home and drop all the clients back home. Days and times vary each day of the week.
Interested in getting involved?
There is a casual interview process involved and a Police Check is required. A drivers licence is also needed and car registration for volunteers delivering the Meals on Wheels service. First Aid Courses are also offered free of charge to our volunteers.
To find out more and to get involved contact Central Goldfields Shire Lifestyle Coordinator Michael Tucker on 5461 0675.
