Central Goldfields Shire is preparing a Conservation Management Plan for the Maryborough Municipal Swimming Pool.
The Plan, to be developed by a Heritage Victoria approved contractor, will provide Council with a detailed assessment of the complex and recommendations for a staged plan for works that will ensure the restoration and conservation of the precinct in the future.
Constructed in 1940 and listed on the Victorian Heritage Register, the precinct has and continues to play an integral role in the social fabric of our community.
To help inform the Conservation Management Plan, we are calling on our local community to share their memories and historical photographs of the precinct.
This historical information will be integral in ensuring the Conservation Plan accurately identifies the original period features, colour schemes, construction methods, landscaping and any alterations.
Residents can get involved by sharing their memories – both verbally and photos if they have them - by attending a community drop-in session on Tuesday 21 November from 2 to 4pm at the Maryborough Resource Centre.
Alternatively, interested community members can email us on PoolCMP@cgoldshire.vic.gov.au or by calling our Central Goldfields Shire Planning team direct on 5461 0626.
Community input is required by Tuesday 12 December, 2017.
